Green light for £2bn windfarm in Wales

Energy firm RWE has announced that construction work will start next year on a £2bn windfarm off the coast of Wales after the government gave planning permission to the project.

The Gwynt y Môr windfarm will be one of the largest offshore windfarms in the world featuring 160 wind turbines some 10 miles off the north Wales coast near Colwyn Bay and Llandudno.

The project will involve three partners. They are: RWE Innogy, Stadtwerke München and Siemens.

It is due to be completed in 2014.
