Interest rates stay at 0.5%

The Bank of England today kept interest rates at 0.5%.

It also said that there would be, as yet, no increase in the quantitative easing programme.

However, the Bank has left the door open to more monetary easing if the economy worsens.

The decision to keep interest rates at 0.5% was widely expected.
