LDA wins sustainability award

The London Development Agency has won a top sustainability award for its programme to make public buildings more energy efficient and cut their carbon emissions.

The RE:FIT programme received a Highly Commended award for outstanding achievement in the Sustainability Initiative of the Year category at the annual Government Opportunities (GO) magazine National Excellence in Public Procurement Awards.

The RE:FIT programme was recognised for its innovation in applying sustainability and energy efficiency principles. It offers a cost-neutral means for public sector bodies to reduce energy bills and the carbon footprint of buildings.

The Mayor of London’s environment advisor Martin Powell said:“This award recognises the ground breaking way the London Development Agency scheme guarantees the public sector measurable energy efficiency savings. This saves a great deal of money and cuts London’s carbon emissions.”
